Also out in the near by desert, there are ruins of ancient cities that go back to the time when the Silk Road was at it's finest. 
Today the city walls have been eroded down to shapes that remind me of Arches National Park in Southern Utah.
The city its self is on an island of rock that is surrounded by lush river valleys.
It seems so desolate until you look over the edge of the cliff and see the crops below that people are still working the land to produce.
We could see some of the current residents out picking cotton.
As you tour the city they take you through some tunnels and raisin drying rooms where you can buy souvenirs and take pictures with some of the locals in their minority clothing.
It was fun to crawl around the ruins and take pictures where others once lived.
